Google granted 500 cybersecurity scholarships to young Vietnamese during a forum on the youth's leading role in digital transformation in Hanoi on Thursday.
The Vietnam Youth Federation on Thursday joined hands with Google to hold the forum to provide information about the role of digital transformation, ways to protect information in cyberspace, and the role of the young in digital transformation and ensuring cyber security.
At the forum, Marc Woo, managing director for Vietnam at Google Asia Pacific, said that users should be aware of cyber threats such as scams and steps to protect themselves.
Vietnam has a high number of young people who have a good command of technology. Google will cooperate with the Vietnam Youth Federation to provide young people with training on information safety and online fraud prevention, and empower youth leaders with the knowledge to combat cyber threats and serve as online safety leaders in their communities, Woo added.
Young people attending Google’s cybersecurity training course will gain access to cybersecurity content developed by Google’s experts.
The training will help them identify potential risks and security vulnerabilities as well as experience Linux, Python, and other advanced security tools to automate cybersecurity tasks.
Learners will also be prepared for the CompTIA Security+ exam, a leading certification in cybersecurity.
Nguyen Minh Dung, a specialist of the information system safety unit under the Ministry of Information and Communications’ Authority of Information Security, said the strong digital transformation in various sectors has resulted in cyber insecurity with many new forms of scams emerging.
Cyber insecurity has threatened users and countries. As a result, it is vital to ensure information security, including protecting personal information.
