A 53-year-old woman died during a marathon in Hue City, central Vietnam, Hue Central Hospital confirmed on Monday.
The hospital said it received N.T.P., 53, from Quang Dien District, Hue, on Sunday, in a state of stroke with signs of cardiac arrest.
P. had registered for the marathon held in Hue on Monday morning.
During the race, she collapsed from a stroke.
Despite immediate first aid from race medical staff, her condition worsened.
Doctors attempted to ventilate her using a breathing tube, but there were no signs of recovery.
The family requested to take her home, and she died shortly afterward.
In addition to P., the hospital admitted three other participants from the same large-scale marathon event on Sunday.
