A 597m-long arch bridge which spans over the Can Tho River and links Ninh Kieu with Cai Rang Districts in Can Tho City, southern Vietnam opened to traffic on Saturday morning.
Work on this Tran Hoang Na Bridge reached completion on the occasion of the 20th founding anniversary of Can Tho as a municipal city.
The three-span arch bridge carried a price tag of VND791 billion (US$32.5 million), with the total length of the bridge and roads leading to it being 820 meters, said Bui Thai Thuong, director of the management authority for ODA (official development assistance) projects, which is the project’s developer.

Once the bridge, situated between the Hung Loi Bridge and Cai Rang Bridge, is put into service, it is expected to attract more waterway tourists, the official said.
Nguyen Thuc Hien, vice-chairman of the municipal administration, highlighted the role of the Tran Hoang Na Bridge, saying that it would contribute to the local socio-economic growth and shorten the time needed to commute between Cai Rang and Ninh Kieu.
The bridge will also help enhance the traffic infrastructure system, promote local tourism, and attract more investors to this Mekong Delta city, he continued.
Apart from the Tran Hoang Na Bridge, the ODA project management authority recently opened a section of Hoang Quoc Viet Street lying between Nguyen Van Cu Street and Road No.923 to traffic, completed work on the Cai Son-Muong Khai canal renovation project and on a road section linking Cach Mang Thang Tam Street with Road No.918.
