Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested a captain of a Vietnamese airline, along with his lover, alleging their involvement in operating a prostitution ring catering to affluent clients, charging them thousands of U.S. dollars per sex session.

The municipal public security department said on Sunday that they had detained 42-year-old Nguyen Tran Cao Nguyen, a captain of a Vietnamese airline, whose name has yet to be announced, for investigation on charges of prostitution harboring.

Nguyen's two accomplices, Nguyen Thi Ly, 30, who is also his lover, and Le Bao Yen, 42, were likewise detained on the same charges.

The department is actively seeking another member of this racket, 34-year-old Vo Thi Minh Thuy, and has urged her to surrender to the police promptly to avail herself of the leniency afforded by the law.

Ly and Yen were apprehended a week ago when a police team, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid on a luxury apartment situated on the 31st floor of a complex on Ton Duc Thang Street in District 1.

The operation resulted in the capture of four women engaged in sex work, catering to four men.

The apartment was provided to the ring by a friend of its members, the Voice of Vietnam reported.

From the testimonies of the two women, police officers detained captain Nguyen, who joined his lover Ly in running the prostitution racket.

Ly told investigators that she and Nguyen set up the ring after they closed down their restaurant in District 1.

She collaborated with Thuy to recruit young girls as sex workers and connect them with affluent men seeking such services.

The ring imposed charges on sex buyers ranging from tens of millions of Vietnamese dong (VND10 million = US$412) to several thousand U.S. dollars per sex session in the rooms of the aforementioned apartment.

Yen was responsible for supplying food and drinks on-site for sex buyers, and she diligently maintained daily records of the number of sex sessions served by each prostitute.

Furthermore, Ly facilitated the arrangement of women selling sex to rich men in various locations, including Hanoi and other provinces like Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, and An Giang.

The police department has urged suspects implicated in the prostitution ring to voluntarily surrender to police officers promptly, offering the prospect of leniency in return.
