The sky of Vietnam’s Hanoi was brilliantly lit on Wednesday evening when 2,024 multicolour drones were used to form different images and words highlighting the capital’s attractive destinations as well as celebrating the coming Tet, the Lunar New Year festival.

The rehearsal began at 9:30 pm at West Lake in Tay Ho District, attracting numerous onlookers amid the exciting atmosphere of celebrating the coming traditional Tet that will fall on Saturday.

The event was in preparation for the artistic show entitled ‘Hanoi Art Light Festival - Brilliant Thang Long,’ with a theme of  One Day of the Capital - A Thousand Years of History,’  which will take place on Friday evening (Lunar New Year Eve) at the same place.

Along the roads along West Lake, including Trich Sai and Nguyen Dinh Thi Streets, locals and tourists enjoyed the impressive drone performances that were transmitted live to LED screens amid the space filled with the sounds of melodious music.

Khanh Linh, a young resident of Hanoi’s Thanh Xuan District, said she interestingly and amazingly enjoyed the drone light show at the rehearsal.

“I have viewed a lot of drone shows online, but this is the first time I have seen a live drone performance, so I feel very satisfying and enjoyable."

Tran Quang Minh, from Cau Giay District, commented that this year’s drone performance  is very significant as it depicts the images closely associated with Hanoi, such as the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thang Long Citadel, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi Flag Pole and Long Bien Bridge.

“What impressed me most is the image of the dragon as it means a year of luck and prosperity for everyone,” Minh stressed.
