French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Emmanuelle Pavillon-Grosser paid a visit to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper headquarters in Phu Nhuan District on Wednesday.
This was her first visit to the newspaper’s main office since assuming her role in 2021.
Upon her arrival, she received a warm welcome from Tuoi Tre's Editor-in-Chief Le The Chu.
The visit was spent discussing the news industry in Vietnam in general and in Ho Chi Minh City in particular, and the adaptation of news agencies amid the ongoing process of digitalization.
Given Pavillon-Grosser's significant involvement in French media in the past, she exhibited a keen interest in Vietnam’s news industry.
Editor-in-Chief Chu said that in order to appeal to readers, Tuoi Tre offers various publications such as Tuoi Tre Cuoi, a satirical magazine, Tuoi Tre Cuoi Tuan, a weekly magazine, a news website in Vietnamese, an English-language online newspaper, and other platforms.
Tuoi Tre primarily covers a wide range of topics including economy, politics, society, health, culture, sports, and world news.
Chu also expressed his pleasure as the Vietnam-France partnership has flourished strongly. The two nations celebrated the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties last year.
Notably, French culture has left much impression on Vietnamese people.
The French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the French Embassy in Hanoi organized a series of events to mark the nniversary in 2023, said Pavillon-Grosser.
She revealed that the French side will focus on the 2024 Summer Olympics and the Francophonie Summit slated for October this year.
Chu sent gratitude to the French diplomat for her visit, expecting closer cooperation between Tuoi Tre and France’s representative agencies in Vietnam to make it a bridge for the Vietnam - France relationship.
