A local woman in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, located in south-central Vietnam, found and returned a backpack belonging to a Canadian man, containing valuable items worth VND29 million (US$1,160), earlier this week.
Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, a 62-year-old resident of Quy Nhon City, discovered the backpack along National Highway 1D in the city’s Ghenh Rang Ward on her way to work at around 2:10 pm on Thursday.
After finishing her work, at 5:30 pm on the same day, Tam turned over the backpack to the local police, who had received a report from Tuttle Tim Anthony, a 64-year-old Canadian, regarding the loss of the bag around 2:00 pm.
Anthony lost the backpack while cycling from a coffee shop in Quy Nhon’s Tran Phu Ward to his hotel in the neighboring Phu Yen Province’s Song Cau Town.
The backpack contained a laptop valued at approximately $300, VND22 million ($880) in cash, identification documents, and bank cards, totaling about VND29 million in value.
Anthony received the property back at around 5:40 pm.
He expressed sincere gratitude to Tam and the Quy Nhon City police.
“Seeing his joy upon retrieving the backpack also brought happiness to me,” Tam said.
