Ho Chi Minh City aims to develop at least 68 hectares of public parks, allocate a minimum of four hectares for public green space, and plant or renovate 12,000 trees before the end of 2025, as per the implementation plan for the city's public park and green space development program.

The city will focus on developing public parks in Thu Duc City; Districts 7 and 12; and Binh Tan, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, and Nha Be Districts.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee asked these district-level authorities to put forward a proposal on the area of public parks, with each district having to open at least 50 hectares of parks.

Particularly, Thu Duc City is required to build at least 100 hectares of public parks during the two-year period.

The districts and Thu Duc City were also told to cooperate with the municipal Department of Construction and the Department of Planning and Investment to conduct all relevant procedures for this investment.

In addition, the municipal Department of Construction and the city’s districts were tasked with reviewing a list of housing projects to urge their investors to develop parks or rebuild deteriorating parks.

During the period, the city will also take back public land lots that are planned for parks, but they are being leased to develop public parks.

As for the tree-planting plan, the city will choose suitable species of plants to help them grow well on different streets and roads across the city.
