A public charging station for electric vehicles, located at Deutsches Haus (German House) in Ho Chi Minh City, which houses the Consulate General of Germany, was put into service on Thursday.
The charging station features four AC charging posts, each with a capacity of 22 kW.
According to the investor, the charging posts offer power adjustments, smartphone connectivity, and the ability to schedule charging via the EV ONE mobile app, allowing users to initiate the charging process simply by scanning a QR code.
Each charging post is equipped with emergency stop buttons and safety features such as lightning protection and leakage warnings.
The advanced fire suppression systems and comprehensive fire safety measures incorporated into the system ensure optimal operational safety.
The newly opened charging stations also features electric bicycle charging infrastructure.
Elmar Dutt, general director of Deutsches Haus Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the launch of the electric vehicle charging station promotes green mobility and green energy transition, as well as supports Vietnam’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
This initiative reflects Deutsches Haus’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and encouraging the use of environmentally friendly transportation solutions for residents, tenants, and visitors.
Huynh Tien Dat, CEO of EV ONE Charging Solutions & Equipment Joint Stock Company, explained that developing the charging station required a rigorous evaluation and testing process.
Every aspect – from design and material selection to equipment quality and operational capability – had to meet strict standards set by Deutsches Haus.
In the first half of 2024, statistics show that approximately 17,536 electric cars were in operation in Vietnam, with 17,482 having been domestically produced and assembled.
The Ministry of Science and Technology has developed eight Vietnamese standards related to electric vehicle charging stations and three standards for sockets.
A comprehensive electric vehicle charging infrastructure consists of electrical systems, control and communication networks, as well as charging ports and plugs that meet various standards.
