Vietnamese visitors can stay in Belarus without a visa for up to 30 days per entry, with a maximum stay of 90 days within a year, starting January 30, according to the visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders between Vietnam and the European country.
This visa exemption agreement, signed in December 2023, will officially take effect on January 30.
The agreement was formalized during a ceremony in Hanoi, where Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and her Belarusian counterpart Evgeny Shestakov signed the historic document in the presence of top officials from both countries.
Under this agreement, citizens of both nations holding ordinary passports can travel visa-free for up to 30 days per visit.
However, the total time spent in the other country cannot exceed 90 days in a calendar year.
The agreement marks a new milestone in the friendship between Vietnam and Belarus.
It is expected to facilitate tourism, particularly by encouraging Belarusian visitors to explore Vietnam’s vibrant destinations.
Moreover, it will enhance opportunities for cultural exchanges and business collaborations, promoting stronger connections between the two nations.
The Vietnamese government aims to promote easier international travel, reflecting reciprocal visa arrangements with global partners.
Vietnam and Belarus share strong political and diplomatic ties, with regular exchanges and collaborations in politics, trade, defense, education, and culture.
Since 1993, the two countries have maintained a visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
In 2015, Vietnam extended a unilateral visa waiver to all Belarusian citizens, regardless of passport type, allowing them to enter Vietnam freely.
