The Consulate General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City organized a mini fan zone for supporters to cheer for Die Mannschaft in their last Group F game against South Korea on Wednesday, but no one returned home happy when their beloved team suffered a shock exit.

The gathering at the DeutschesHaus Ho Chi Minh City in District 1 attracted hundreds of diehard German and Vietnamese fans, who were left in grief and shock after Germany were defeated 0-2 by South Korea.

Supporters of the Asian team also joined in the fan zone.

The stunning defeat by a tenacious South Korea sent the reigning champions home, while Sweden and Mexico advanced as Group F leaders and runners-up.

Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper captured photos of Germany’s supporters as they went on an emotional roller coaster throughout the dramatic match.
