The BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2024 will take place at Legend Danang Golf Resort in Ngu Hanh Son District under Da Nang City from Thursday to Saturday, with the participation of 144 local and international golfers.

The golf tournament is expected to become a major tourism product in the capital city of central Vietnam and draw throngs of wealthy tourists in the future.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, Nguyen Trong Thao, deputy head of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, said that the international golf tournament is an important sporting event in the region, contributing to cementing the position of the city as a leading destination of events and festivals in Asia.

“The tournament will spur the city’s high-quality tourism development, with a focus on leisure tourism,” Thao said.

“Moreover, the event is meant to popularize the image of Da Nang City among local and international travelers,” he added.

Apart from the representatives from Vietnam, many international professional golfers will compete in the tournament, including Rahil Ganjee from India and Ahmad Baig from Pakistan.

The competition will feature three rounds on an 18-hole course.

After a streak of 36 holes, the best 50 golfers will enter the next round

The golfer with the lowest gross score (the total number of strokes taken) will be the winner of the tournament.

“This year’s event will not only play a key role in introducing Da Nang City as a golf and tourist destination, but also inspire young Vietnamese golf players,” said Ken Kudo, general manager at the Asian Development Tour.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang is one of major international golf tournaments under the Asian Development Tour, part of the Asian Tour.

The golf tournament has been staged in Vietnam over the past three years.

The third edition will offer a total prize pool of US$100,000.
