Khanh Hoa Province will host the 2023 Nha Trang Beach Tourism Festival in early June with 60 cultural and sports activities.
The fest will kick off for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on June 3 and will last until June 6, a representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of the south-central Vietnamese province said on Thursday.
“We have completed our preparations for the event and this year’s fest is to offer numerous exciting and unique programs to both residents and tourists,” said Nguyen Van Thien, director of the department.
The opening ceremony will feature a drone light show and be held at April 2 Square in Nha Trang, Vietnam's famous beach city, on the night of June 3. The theme for the ceremony is 'Khanh Hoa - Hope and Growth.'
Other events planned to be rolled out within the framework of the festival include a bodybuilding club competition, a beach shuttlecock tournament, a football tournament, a billiards tourney, a national karate competition, and a paragliding contest.
A series of events are also slated to be held in the lead-up to the festival, from May 25 to June 7, including the national aerobic championship, the Nha Trang international tourism trade fair, a stamp exhibition, some food fests, a south-central agro-fishery-forestry conference, a boat race, and a street lion and dragon dance festival.
The beach tourism festival will also feature a slew of traditional and cultural events, including a coffee fest, a pottery and brocade exhibition, a human chess contest, and bai choi performances. Bai choi is a famous Vietnamese art form which combines music, poetry, acting, painting, and literature.
Among the highlights of the festival will be an exercise performance, a fish-worshiping festival, a hip-hop club party, a fishing contest, a marathon race themed 'Run to Future,' art performances, a music show, and a fashion show.

First launched in 2003, the Nha Trang Beach Tourism Festival is held biennially to attract tourists to Khanh Hoa.
