South Korean artist Seong Yu Jin, 13, received big rounds of applause from spectators after her performances during a Vietnam - South Korea art exchange program held in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.

The child artist, dressed in traditional South Korean Hanbok, sang some traditional songs at the exchange between the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Arts and Literature Associations and the Daegu City Union of Culture and Arts Associations.

“I started learning Pansori, a Korean genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer, when I was in grade 1,” Seong told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

“I feel honored to perform in Vietnam for this program."

The art exchange program also featured several traditional performances by South Korean artists, including a traditional Salpuri dance and a drum dance.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese artists performed traditional folk arts at the event, including ca tru, a form of ceremonial singing from northern Vietnam, chau van, traditional spiritual singing, and hat xam, a folk music style also from the northern region.

In addition, the event, which was held at the headquarters of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Arts and Literature Association, included an exhibition showcasing over 100 photos, statues, and architectural pictures of Vietnamese and South Korean photographers, painters, and sculptors.

“Art exchange activities and events aimed at promoting art products will strengthen cooperation in the field between the two cities,” said Lee Chang Hwan, head of the Daegu City Union of Culture and Arts Associations.
