70 contestants arrive in Ho Chi Minh City for Mr. World 2024

Nearly 70 contestants from around the world have arrived in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024 Mr. World beauty pageant.

This is the first time Vietnam has hosted this prestigious event.

The competition runs from November 5 to 23, with its segments taking place in the scenic coastal cities of Vung Tau in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan Province. 

Contestants will compete in a variety of categories, including Mr. Sport, Mr. Talent, National Costume, Top Model VBFF9, Head-to-Head Challenge, and a closed-door interview.

The final night will be held in Phan Thiet City on November 23.

Organizers aim to use the event to promote Vietnam’s tourism and culinary heritage to a global audience.

“We hope that as Mr. World contestants participate in events in Vung Tau, they will have the chance to explore the rich, diverse cuisine and experience the unique hospitality of Vung Tau as well as Vietnam,” Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, vice-chairwoman of the Vung Tau People’s Committee, said during the official contestant introduction.

Huong added that the pageant is expected to foster international friendship and cooperation.

Current Mr. World titleholder Jack Heslewood expressed his excitement to return to Vietnam, noting that he feels honored to accompany the 2024 Mr. World contestants and share memorable experiences in Vung Tau.

The contestants had a chance to experience a traditional Vietnamese meal featuring dishes such as crispy fried freshwater shrimp wrapped in greens, Hue-style steamed rice cakes, fresh rolls with shredded pork skin, caramelized catfish in a clay pot, braised pork with eggs, stir-fried water spinach with garlic, and crab soup with jute leaves. 

Many of them praised the food’s unique flavors and said it left a lasting impression.

Vietnam’s representative, Pham Tuan Ngoc, has been rigorously honing his skills for the competition.

Audiences are eagerly watching, hopeful that Ngoc will deliver a strong performance on home ground.

Founded by the Miss World Organization, the Mr. World competition is an international male pageant that began in Istanbul, Turkey in 1996 with the mission to “search for the world’s most desirable man.”
