Residents in Ho Chi Minh City are using lanterns, lights, paper flowers, and glittering ribbons to decorate greenery for Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), giving the streets a new coat of vibrant colors.

The green trees on the stretch of Tan Hoa Canal Street in front of Van Hien University in Tan Phu District are now adorned with bright red lanterns, filling the air with a festive Tet mood.

The tree trunks are wrapped with LED light strings to illuminate the area at night.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Viet Hoang’s family living at Khang Phu Apartment in Tan Phu District has created a Tet area at their doorstep, decorated with red lanterns, ribbons, and lights to highlight the tree in their front yard.

“Every Tet, my family takes time to decorate to bring the Tet atmosphere into our home,” Hoang said.

“Initially, it was just for fun but it has gradually become a tradition for the whole family.

“Many people admire our decoration and ask to take photos.”

The section of Nguyen Van Troi Street in front of the Ward 17 People's Committee venue in Phu Nhuan District also features vibrant decorations.

The trees in the area are enhanced with the red color of lanterns, and there is a corner with apricot and peach blossoms, allowing people to freely stop and take pictures.
