Work on the My Thuy deep-water port project, which carries a price tag of VND14 trillion (US$568 million), in Quang Tri Province, north-central Vietnam will begin on March 25.

The government approved the My Thuy deep-water port project, which was designed to cover 685 hectares of land, in 2019.

The project will have 10 wharves and will be developed over three phases.

The first four wharves, with a total area of 133.67 hectares, will be constructed in Hai Lang District until 2025.

The district authorities have completed clearing 124 hectares of land for the first phase.

During the inspection of the designated project site by provincial administration leaders and representatives from My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Company (MTIP) on Friday, Le Duc Thinh, chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Lang District, pledged to transfer the entire required 133.67 hectares for the project's phase by March 15.

An MTIP representative said it would sign contracts with contractors on Friday next week and expected to complete constructing two wharves by the last quarter of next year.

Chairman of Quang Tri Province Vo Van Hung required MTIP to prepare personnel, vehicles, and equipment for the execution of the project as well as announce the project development plan and progress to local residents.

Highlighting the significance of the project for the province's development, Hung emphasized that it would serve as a catalyst for the growth of various sectors.

He urged relevant agencies to initiate the project as scheduled.
