Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have detained nine individuals involved in a recent incident in which they paraded a coffin through downtown streets.

The act, which has sparked public outrage, warrants appropriate legal action.

What remains a concern for many is the motive behind the stunt, which does not appear to be simply an attempt to gain social media views or promote a fashion advertisement.

Previously, a similar event took place on Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street in District 1, an area with fewer people and vehicles.

Later, the group moved to the crowded area near Ben Thanh Market, a popular location for both locals and tourists.

The decision to stage the act in such a high-traffic area suggests an intent to attract attention both in real life and online.

Despite the presence of surveillance cameras and nearby authorities, this act displayed blatant disregard for the law and public order.

It echoes previous incidents, such as a group blocking traffic to allow a wedding car to pass.

However, this coffin stunt is seen as even more disrespectful.

Ho Chi Minh City’s metro line 1, which recently began operations, has also witnessed similar misbehavior, with individuals performing stunts and wearing inappropriate clothing inside train cars.

While surveillance and citizen cameras are in place, few people report these behaviors immediately to the authorities, allowing them to continue unchecked.

This public indifference can be seen as tacit approval, further enabling such actions.

What other stunts might follow the coffin-carrying incident?

While many aim to promote positive social engagement, there is also a strong desire to eliminate behaviors that undermine social values, cultural traditions, and respect for the law.

It is likely that those who carried the coffin and livestreamed the incident were merely hired performers.

The public is eager to identify the mastermind behind it -- the person who orchestrated and directed this absurd street performance.

Additionally, the intent behind the foreign language text written on the coffin must also be clarified.

Two years ago, a female model was caught violating the law for performing stunts and posing for photos while riding a supersport motorcycle.

Authorities took the case seriously, and it is expected that this incident will be handled with the same level of scrutiny.

The cultural environment, like the physical one, must be kept clean.

Those responsible for distorting the image, traditions, ethics, and culture of the Vietnamese people must be held accountable.
