Interest in Apple’s new iPhone 16 among Vietnamese consumers lags behind what it was in the iPhone 15, according to a survey recently released by the Vietnamese freeware web browser Coc Coc.
The survey revealed that searches for 'iPhone 15' on its launch day last year were about 1.3 times higher than searches for 'iPhone 16' on its launch day, September 10.
Average daily searches for 'iPhone 15' exceeded those for 'iPhone 16' both before and after the latter’s launch.
However, the overall number of searches for iPhone-related keywords this year increased in comparison to last year.
Specifically, during the launch period of the iPhone 16, total searches containing iPhone-related keywords rose 20 percent compared to that during the iPhone 15's introduction period.
According to the survey, the most searched term in the first three weeks of this month was 'iPhone 16,' followed closely by 'iPhone 16 Pro Max.'
An analysis of 1,000 keywords related to the iPhone 16 launch indicates that 70 percent of the searches focused on the product name and the product name plus place of sale, while 12 percent were about the launch event itself and seven percent pertained to pricing.
Despite being launched a year ago, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max continue to generate significant search interest among Coc Coc users.
Notably, the keyword 'iPhone 13' remains popular as well.
In Vietnam, the retail prices for the 128GB, the lowest-capacity version of the iPhone 16, range from VND21.99 million (US$893) to VND22.99 million ($934).
