Truong Gia Binh, chairman of FPT Corporation, which has ventured into the pharmaceutical sector, noted that AI is poised to make a significant impact on the industry, especially in the development of vaccines and medications.
Binh made the statement during a working breakfast, jointly organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and FPT Corporation in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday as part of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation also participated in the discussion with global pharmaceutical companies on the future of Vietnamese pharmaceuticals in the digital age, focusing on innovation and technology during the event.
Opening the discussion, Binh emphasized that the pharmaceutical industry would be one of the leading sectors applying AI, particularly in the development of vaccines and medications.
“With over 10 years of experience in AI research and development and collaborations with top global organizations and experts, we are witnessing numerous new AI-driven ideas emerging across various industries,” Binh remarked.
Meanwhile, representatives from major pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca, Roche, Sanofi, Novartis, MSD, Pfizer, Merck, Sumitomo Pharma, and others, praised recent legal improvements in Vietnam’s Pharmacy Law.
They agreed that the revised law would enhance patient access to new drugs and vaccines.
These companies also welcomed Vietnam’s commitment to advancing new technologies, as reflected in Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which promotes breakthroughs in science, innovation, and national digital transformation.
Politburo member and secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen also spoke at the seminar, highlighting the critical role of technology, especially AI and data, in the healthcare sector.
He stressed that these innovations would improve lives by increasing longevity and overall well-being.
“Ho Chi Minh City will introduce pilot mechanisms for pharmaceutical companies to implement their proposals transparently, paving the way for nationwide adoption,” Nen stated.

Digital transformation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals
Recently, FPT has emerged as a pioneer in new technology trends and digital transformation, delivering innovative and effective solutions.
In the healthcare sector, FPT is building a digital ecosystem that offers fast, convenient, and comprehensive services for government agencies, medical facilities, pharmaceutical companies, and the general public.
By integrating technology into healthcare, FPT is enhancing service quality and expanding access to personalized care through innovations like telemedicine and real-time patient health monitoring.
FPT’s healthcare solutions support around 30 million medical examinations and treatments annually, helping thousands of medical professionals increase efficiency.
The company is collaborating with over 300 hospitals nationwide to develop a smart healthcare system that prioritizes people.
In the pharmaceutical sector, FPT is improving operational efficiency across all areas by digitalizing pharmaceutical research and development, creating an Advanced Pharmacy Omni-Channel System and developing a comprehensive drug management platform.
This connects patients, doctors, and pharmacies through electronic medical records, benefiting chains like Long Chau Pharmacy, Hitachi Medical Devices, Olympus, MedAvisor, Zuellig Pharma, and BrightInsight.
FPT has also partnered with BrightInsight, a global leader in regulatory-compliant digital health solutions, to co-develop a digital healthcare platform for the biopharmaceutical and medical technology industries.
Additionally, FPT’s digital transformation solution for Long Chau Pharmacy has enhanced the customer experience by enabling seamless shopping across web, mobile, and in-store channels, reducing transaction times to under 2.5 minutes.
The solution also optimizes multi-channel order management and inventory, reducing stock-outs by five times to less than five percent.
Long Chau Pharmacy in VNeID
Most recently, Long Chau Pharmacy and the Research and Application Center for Residents Data (RAR), under the Ministry of Public Security, launched an electronic authentication service via VNeID, Vietnam’s electronic identification system.
This partnership allows people to safely and conveniently purchase medicine online through an app-to-app connection between Long Chau Pharmacy and VNeID.
The VNeID app’s online medicine purchasing feature is part of a broader electronic health book initiative, designed to track medical history, prescriptions, and drug purchases.
This essential service meets the public’s need for proactive health management.
