Vietnam has won two medals at an international information technology competition hosted by the U.S., according to the website of the Vietnamese government.

Two out of three Vietnamese contestants bagged two bronze medals in the final round of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) 2014 contest, which took place from July 27 to 30 in California.

The medals went to Tran Phuc Duy, a 10th-grade student at Lawrence S. Ting High School, who won the MS PowerPoint 2010 category, and Tran Minh Tien, a student from the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, winner of the MS Excel 2010 category.

Phuc Duy, the youngest member of the Vietnamese team, is the first high school student to have ever been chosen as an MOS representative since the competition was first held in Vietnam in 2009.

Meanwhile, this is Minh Tien’s second time of joining the contest. Last year, the student was the runner-up of the MS Excel category.

“Learning is an interesting journey of pooling knowledge together. It will be easy if we know how to learn actively and enjoy our work. I always try to challenge my limit,” Tien shared about his learning tips that have helped bring him many achievements.

This year, the competition gathered 110 teams from many countries and territories around the world, including India, Vietnam, the U.S., Korea, Laos, and Cambodia.

The national round was attended by more than 1,000 Vietnamese students from 174 teams across the country.

MOSWC is an annual competition involving Microsoft Office applications held by Certiport all over the world.

This is the third consecutive year Vietnam has won great prizes at the contest. Last year, the Southeast Asian country grabbed a bronze medal in the MOS Excel 2010 category. In 2012, Vietnam earned a gold medal in the MS Excel 2010 category.
