Vietnam welcomes the activities of Fulbright University Vietnam and hopes that it will continue to make practical contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two nations, said the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign ministry's spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the statement in Hanoi on Monday when being asked by reporters for comments on the operations of Fulbright University Vietnam, one of the country’s first private, non-profit institutions of higher education, located in Ho Chi Minh City.
Fulbright University Vietnam stands as a testament to the educational collaboration between Vietnam and the U.S., particularly in the realm of training high-quality human resources, Hang said.
She underscored that Vietnam welcomes the university's activities, which were affirmed in the 2023 joint statement upgrading the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
"We hope and believe that the university’s activities will continue to make meaningful contributions to the growing friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S.," the spokesperson added.
Founded in 2016, Fulbright University Vietnam has its main campus currently under construction at Saigon High-Tech Park in Ho Chi Minh City.
The university was granted its education license in 2017 and welcomed its inaugural class the following year, holding its first graduation ceremony in June 2023.
Fulbright University Vietnam aims to nurture and inspire new generations of leaders and ambitious thinkers from diverse backgrounds to serve Vietnamese society and contribute to a better world, according to its website.
Dr. Scott Fritzen currently serves as the university's president.
