All four members of the Vietnamese team competing at the 2024 International Olympiad in Informatics bagged medals, including two golds, one silver, and one bronze, the Ministry of Education and Training announced on Friday.

The four students are all from the High School for Gifted Students under the auspices of the University of Science under the Vietnam National University-Hanoi.

The gold medals went to 12th grader Pham Cong Minh and 11th grader Hoang Xuan Bach.

The silver medal was secured by Nguyen Huu Tuan, a 10th-grade student, while 12th grader Pham Ngoc Trung claimed the bronze medal.

Given the results, Vietnam ranked fourth among participating countries and territories, following the U.S., Japan, and Poland.

The 36th International Olympiad in Informatics was held between September 1 to 6 in Egypt with the direct participation of 353 students from 91 countries and territories and nine students from Israel, Iran, and Germany taking the exam online.

In 2023, the Vietnamese team was among the top nine with the highest results, with one gold, two silvers, and one bronze.
