A national holiday that runs from Tuesday to the end of this week could not be a better chance for millions of Vietnamese to take on vacation trips across the country.
The six-day holiday starts today with the national festival to commemorate the death anniversary of the Hung Kings, the founders of the nation, which falls on the 10th day of the third month of this lunar year.
April 30 is Reunification Day and May 1 is International Labor Day, while May 2-3 are Saturday and Sunday.
Tuesday saw more than five million travels countrywide flock to the Hung King Temple in Viet Tri, the capital city of the northern province of Phu Tho, to celebrate the main day of the festival.
In Sunday alone, the number of visitors was as many as two million, said Nguyen Thi Tuyet Chinh, deputy director of the province’s tourism department.
The arrival number will continue soaring the following days, she added.
Police and security forces have been dispatched to the temple to ensure security for the event.

Elsewhere in the central city of Da Nang, thousands of local and foreign tourists have come to the Bien Dong (East Sea) Park in Son Tra peninsula to enjoy a series of activities held during the 2015 Sea Tourism Season, which kicked off on Sunday.

An international culinary day with booths from a number of countries was also held on Sunday in the campus of the city’s administrative center.
The 2015 Sea Tourism Season is running until May 2, allowing tourists to join sea activities and sports like paragliding, kayak boat and basket boat races, and underwater tug of war.
Holidaymakers can also take tours around the city or take on snorkeling to enjoy their vacations.

Bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City, meanwhile, have been overcrowded since Monday afternoon, with a number of people boarding coaches to return home or go on holidays.
The huge amount of bus travelers has caused traffic jams at several places across the city.
Even more passengers would show up at the stations on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to transportation firms at the Western Bus Station, where passenger buses depart for southern provinces.
The Eastern Bus Station, where passengers take buses for trips to the central and the northern regions, too were overcrowded during these peak times.
The number of passengers to the station is expected to be double from normal days, reaching around 44,000 passengers per day.
