Eight teams from Asia, Europe and South America promise to show their best colors at the 2019 Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2019), to be held in the namesake city in central Vietnam this summer.

Running from June to July, DIFF 2019 is the tenth edition of the competition held annually in Da Nang since 2008.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the Da Nang administration announced that this year’s competition would last for a month and promised to give spectators a more dazzling display with larger LED screens and more advanced techniques as well as visual effects.

DIFF 2019 will kick off with Vietnam competing against Russia, followed by the Brazil - Belgium show on June 8.

Last year’s champions Italy will face Finland on June 15, and the preliminary round will end with England competing against China on June 22.

The best two teams from the preliminary round will face off for the title of DIFF 2019 champions in the finale on July 7.

The main theme of this five-night festival is called Stories by the Rivers, during which many stories about the cultural history as well as the flow that connects all senses of life will be conveyed through spectacular fireworks performances in music of each team.

Le Trung Chinh, director of Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, said he expects DIFF 2019 to maintain the success of previous years’ festivals.

Chinh, who is also vice chairman of the Da Nang administration, hoped the festival would help Da Nang remain one of the most attractive tourist and festive destinations in Vietnam.
