A colorful date palm garden has recently become a new attraction to the tourists paying a visit to Sa Dec City in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap, around 165 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City.

The spectacular garden, located next to the Sa Nhien – Cai Dao flower street in Sa Dec's Tan Quy Dong Ward has been a bustling place for the last ten days.

The garden’s owner has grown this date palms for more than ten years, but this year the owner has allowed tourists to enter it for the first time.

The trees are at their most beautiful time of the year in early June, and visitors are encouraged to take photos of the garden as a keepsake.

It is easy to find the way to the garden. After covering a distance of one kilometer from Sa Dec City’s flower village, visitors can spot the date palm trees with their large and distinctive clusters of yellow fruits from afar.

The garden is considered the largest of its kind in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region with over 100 trees aged more than ten years.

Around 300 to 400 visitors have come to the garden daily since its opening. On weekends, the number climbs to around 1,000.

The unripe date palm fruit has an eye-catching yellow color, but it will gradually turn dark purple when it ripens. The fully ripe fruit tastes sweet and gets sweeter as it continues to ripen and wither.

Many tourists want to pay a visit to the date palm garden because they feel curious about both the tree and its fruits.

Date palm trees are popular in the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Southeast Asia. Many Vietnamese are not familiar with the species.

Tourists may want to take photos and taste the sweet flavor of the date palm fruit, which is not widely available where they are from.

The garden’s owner is present to guide visitors on how to harvest the fruit, and its flavor never fails to leave a strong impression on anyone who tries it.
