The 11th Party Central Committee has basically agreed to the plans for key personnel for the next tenure, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong has said.
General Secretary Trong made the statement at the closing session of the 12th meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee that ended in Hanoi on Sunday, after seven days of working.
During the meeting, participants scrutinized the Politburo’s presentation on the nomination of candidates for the 12th Party Central Committee, which will be elected at the 12th National Party Congress in early 2016, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Party officials also discussed the Politburo’s report on personnel preparation for the Politburo itself and the Party Secretariat, along with key positions from the 6th National Party Congress to the time prior to the 12th National Party Congress.
They also offered some recommendations in the preparation of personnel for the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and key positions of the 12th tenure between now and the 14th meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee.
The Party Central Committee passed a number of policies in preparation for the elections of the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-21 tenure, including instructions on the National Electoral Council, the time of elections, and the number of candidates and their qualification. The committee members discussed and agreed with the Politburo’s statement on the results of personnel preparation for the 12th Party Central Committee and its report on personnel arrangement in the Politburo, the Secretariat and key leadership positions from the 12th to the 14th meeting of the 11th Party Central Committee, as well as proposals on personnel issues to be addressed from now to the 14th meeting. The committee also adopted the first list of candidates for official and alternate members of the 12th Party Central Committee.
During the week-long meeting, which began on October 5, participants also talked over the 2015 socio-economic performance and passed the socio-economic development plans for 2016 as well as many other important issues.
