Two Boeing C-17 Globemaster III heavyweight military aircraft carrying supplies serving U.S. President Joe Biden's upcoming two-day visit to Vietnam landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on Sunday morning.
They were the fourth and fifth logistics flights from the U.S. to Vietnam in preparation for President Biden’s Vietnam visit slated for September 10 and 11 at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Another flight is set to arrive in Hanoi at 4:00 pm on Sunday.
On Friday, three C-17 flights touched down at the Vietnamese airport, carrying equipment and specialized cars for the U.S. president’s trip to the Southeast Asian country.
These aircraft are used to transport all necessary supplies for American presidents’ overseas trips.
The appearance of C-17 aircraft in a country signals a visit by the U.S. president to that country.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier announced U.S. President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam.

The visit will be the first by President Biden to the Southeast Asian nation since he took office in early 2021, and will happen as the two countries celebrate 10 years of their comprehensive partnership this year.
The event will also mark the first time a U.S. president pays a visit to Vietnam at the invitation of a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Vietnam and the U.S. established diplomatic relations in November 1995, and upgraded their relations to a comprehensive partnership in July 2013.
