The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is set to host the concluding field training course as part of Cycle 4 for the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) Experts’ Working Group on Peacekeeping Operations for the first time ever in Hanoi from September 13 to 21.
Co-chaired by Vietnam and Japan, the field training’s opening ceremony is scheduled for September 13.
Nearly 200 peacekeeping experts and trainees from 18 ADMM+ countries, including 26 from Vietnam, will participate in the training.
The course will comprise three phases encompassing theoretical and practical training, along with specific instruction for military medical personnel, engineers, and military observers.
Recently, Sent. Lieut. Gen. Phung Si Tan, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and head of the training’s steering committee, conducted an inspection of the preparations at the National Training Center No. 4 in My Duc District, Hanoi.
He urged close cooperation with the Japanese counterparts to finalize arrangements, emphasizing safety and reinforcing the VPA’s stature.
The facilities are well-maintained and fully ready to host the event, according to Gen. Tan’s assessment.
During a meeting with peacekeeping operation expert groups from Vietnam and Japan, Gen. Tan pledged Vietnam’s commitment to provide optimal conditions for the training and expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with the Japanese side in its organization.
He also commended Japan’s role as the co-chair of the training.
