South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol affirmed his country’s commitment to assist Vietnam in training the workforce for semiconductor and hi-tech industries, as well as developing the cultural industry, during his talks with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Seoul on Tuesday.

The South Korean president also pledged to help Vietnam successfully host the fourth Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in April 2025.

The South Korean leader expressed his pleasure to meet with PM Chinh, underlining that the latter’s visit to the East Asian nation would contribute to boosting the implementation of an action program aimed at fostering the comprehensive strategic partnership between Hanoi and Seoul.

He underscored that South Korea sees Vietnam as one of its key partners in its foreign policy.

Meanwhile, PM Chinh emphasized that Vietnam supports South Korea’s major policies and is willing to collaborate with the latter for mutual development.

The leaders of the two nations reached a consensus on closer cooperation to deepen economic relations in a bid to raise two-way trade to US$100 billion in 2025 and $150 billion in 2030.

The Vietnamese premier also hinted at encouraging South Korean companies to beef up their investment in the semiconductor, digital transformation, green transition, and bio-technology fields in Vietnam.

Besides, PM Chinh proposed the South Korean side ramp up its provision of loans through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and Economic Development Promotion Facility (EDPF) for Vietnam to execute strategic traffic infrastructure projects.

Mentioning the investment climate, Yoon said that many South Korean firms assess Vietnam as a potential destination.

He expected Vietnam to create favorable conditions for South Korean enterprises to join key projects such as energy and liquefied natural gas power projects.

During their talks, the two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in culture, education, and tourism, while bolstering collaboration at regional and international forums.

They were also committed to protecting the interests of citizens of the two nations and helping them have a stable life in the other country.

PM Chinh was set to end his visit to South Korea on Wednesday.
