Vietnam welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah and calls on both sides to immediately execute the deal, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang told a press briefing on Thursday.
Vietnam applauds the ceasefire agreement for its potential to bring long-term and sustainable peace to the region, ensuring security, safety, and the well-being of all people, Hang stressed.
“Vietnam supports all efforts to achieve a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and end the conflict, contributing to building a peaceful and stable climate in the Middle East,” she underlined.
Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire on Wednesday (local time) after both sides accepted an agreement brokered by the United States and France.
As per the deal, Israel will gradually withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon over 60 days, while Hezbollah will have to move north of the Litani River, some 30 kilometers from the border with Israel.
The agreement also stipulates that the Lebanese government is responsible for preventing Hezbollah and other armed groups in Lebanon from carrying out activities against Israel from 4:00 am on Wednesday.
In return, Israel will not conduct military attacks against Lebanese targets by land, air, or sea.
Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu delivered his speech about the ceasefire agreement, explaining that he accepted the deal as it would help Israel focus on the Iranian threat. Iran was accused of being the main backer of Hamas and Hezbollah.
After the deal took effect, thousands of displaced Lebanese people began returning to their homes.
