Police of northern Thanh Hoa province will begin putting into use the cylindrical fishing net ejectors on a trial run to replace the manual maneuver of the nets as attempts to stop foolhardy racers and reckless drivers, which was launched in late 2011, heard a press conference on Apr 26.

According to the Thanh Hoa police, as soon as traffic police officers spot cutthroat racers or reckless, overspeeding drivers, they will aim the tube-shaped ejectors at the space beneath the cars or the rear wheel of the vehicles, and the net is flung out and encloses the wheels firmly, slowing the vehicles down before bringing them to a complete halt.

The method, developed by the provincial police in coordination with a unit under the Ministry of National Defense, is applied only for racers or those who won’t stop their vehicles after they have been signaled to do so by the traffic police.

The police also guarantee high safety for both ejector operators and drivers.

In late 2011, the Thanh Hoa police department also initiated the manually-operated use of fishing nets in stopping bike racers and reckless drivers.
