Police in Ho Chi Minh City are handling a case in which two foreigners were caught after stealing an iPhone from a local woman in Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown area. Police in District 1 on Monday said they have referred the case and the two culprits, Skene Sean Douglas, 17, with Australian nationality, and De Oliveira Grimbert Nicolas, 18, with Brazilian nationality, to the city police for investigation. After their arrest, the foreigners, who reside in Thao Dien Ward, District 2, told police that they stole the phone because they needed money for personal use. Last Friday, December 13, Nicolas drove Douglas on a motorbike around District 1, looking for their victim. At 10:30 pm they saw a woman, N.T.T.H., 21, of HCMC’s Thu Duc District, taking photos with her iPhone in front of the Vincom A building on Nguyen Hue Street. The two foreigners approached the woman and Douglas snatched the phone from her hand. Nicolas quickly drove off. While H was driving her motorbike around to look for the culprits, she came across a patrol police team and told them what had happened. Soon after, the team found two foreigners who looked just as the victim had described. The team then stopped the foreigners for examination and found an iPhone 4 in Douglas’ trouser pocket. The foreigners later confessed that they had stolen the phone from H.
