The forest protection unit and police in Thanh Chuong District on Sunday said they are hunting for the person who was transporting the products.
On August 27, police in the area seized the paws after a passenger carrying a large bag got off a van coming in from Laos.
A joint team of forest rangers and traffic police found the passenger suspicious, so they decided to approach him for examination.
Upon seeing inspectors coming over, the man dropped the bag and ran away, said Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Anh, chief police of the district.
The inspectors opened the bag and found the bear paws, which had been packed in ice and had a foul odor.
Police said they are looking for the man who fled and are continuing their investigation to track down the origin of the paws.
