The second Ho Chi Minh City International Photography Festival will kick off on November 29, featuring the participation of Nick Ut, local and foreign photographers, and photography enthusiasts.

These foreign photographers come from the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Japan, Germany, and France.

The festival, which is scheduled to run until December 2, will be attended by Vietnamese-born American photographer Nick Ut, or Huynh Cong Ut, 73, who took the famous 'Napalm Girl' picture in 1972.

The Ho Chi Minh City Photographic Association (HOPA) announced the launch of the second edition of the fest on Monday.

HOPA chairman Doan Hoai Trung said that the festival would include various photography activities expected to excite both professional and amateur photographers.

One of the highlights of the fest will be a public photography display on a street section from Dong Khoi to Nguyen Du.

The photo exhibition, titled ‘The World Through Lens,’ on the road will show international prize-winning photographs.

The festival will also treat visitors and photographers to a photo exhibition titled ‘The City I Love’ in front of Chi Lang Park in downtown Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, a photography fair held at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House in District 1 will feature over 100 booths displaying a wide range of cameras and photography equipment.

Furthermore, a cultural and skill exchange event will take place during the fest and gather over 100 local and international photographers. The event will center around the topic ‘Ho Chi Minh City through international photographers’ lens.’

As part of the festival, the third Ho Chi Minh City international photo contest has been rolled out.

The contest is open to all people, including local and international photograph enthusiasts, said the association.

Contestants can send their photographs to HOPA at 122 Suong Nguyet Anh Street in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1 prior to October 15.

An awards ceremony will be organized during the festival.

The Ho Chi Minh City International Photography Festival was first launched in November 2022.
