The design plan of the first phase of a project to build a new multimillion-dollar administrative hub in downtown Ho Chi Minh City got a go-ahead from the municipal administration on Friday.

The new building is located at 213 Dong Khoi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, estimated to consume nearly VND53 billion (US$2.37 million) for the first phase of construction, according to the approved plan.

The administrative center has two stories and a basement, spanning 750 square meters from the current edifice of the city’s administration on Thanh Ton Street to Dong Khoi Street.

The building will provide office halls and workplace for the city’s public servants.

The 1,900 square meter basement, renovated from that of a now-destroyed building, is expected to host the parking lot and technical room.

The project is developed by the Ho Chi Minh City House Trade Management Co. Ltd.
