Check out what is in the news today:Politics -- Motonari Adachi, head of the Japan Coast Guard’s international affairs department, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper in Tokyo that the East Asian nation will help Vietnam improve its capacity in maritime law enforcement regarding infrastructure, human resources and legal issues.  Society -- Fish were found dead on Tuesday in a section of the recently revitalized Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal in Ho Chi Minh City. -- At a press meeting on Tuesday, Colonel Pham Minh Thang, deputy director of the police department in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, accused a feature released in May by national broadcaster Vietnam Television of containing staged details on deforestation activities the province.   -- An official in Van Don District in the northern province of Quang Ninh has confirmed that local authorities are looking into an occurrence in which dozens of residents’ freshwater wells have been tainted with petroleum in recent days.   -- Minister Mai Tien Dung, head of the Government Office, and other ministers addressed dominant ongoing issues including the cyberattacks on Vietnamese airports last week and Mobifone’s secret acquisition of a pay TV operator at a government press meeting on Tuesday. -- Police in the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Tuesday announced a decision to initiate legal proceedings against the burial of more than 100 metric tons of toxic waste at a farm by the Vietnamese steel unit of Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Group.Business -- Ho Chi Minh City will spend VND3 trillion (US$134.6 million) assisting enterprises, particularly startups, and upgrading technology, Vo Van Hoan, head of the municipal People’s Committee Office, announced at a meeting on Tuesday. -- Construction work began on Tuesday on a wastewater processing plant at VSIP Nghe An, an integrated township and industrial park developed by Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Co., in a bid to promote environmental protection and lure further investment into the park, located in the north-central province of Nghe An.Education -- The JENESYS project, an exchange program for Japanese and East Asian youths launched by the Japanese government in 2013, is recruiting Vietnamese candidates for this year’s edition, slated to take place in Japan from September 25 to October 4.
