A helicopter set to serve U.S. President Donald Trump during his two-day visit in Vietnam starting this weekend has arrived in Da Nang City and conducted a test flight.
The copter landed in the central city at 1:20 pm on Monday, and took off for a few rounds around the city’s sky on Tuesday to make sure everything is in place for President Trump’s upcoming trip.
Marine One is the call sign of any U.S. Marine Corps aircraft carrying the president of the United States, though the term is often loosely used to refer to any Marine Corps aircraft designed for the purpose – with or without the president on it.
The helicopter to serve President Trump in Vietnam is a Sikorsky VH-60N White Hawk, which first entered service in 1988.
According to official information released by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Trump will be in Vietnam this Saturday for the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Da Nang, before flying to Hanoi on Sunday for a state visit at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang.
Leaders of 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) community will also be in Da Nang on Saturday for the meeting, which concludes a six-day senior week where trade and economic issues are discussed.
