Police in southern Vietnam have begun a manhunt for a suspect who robbed a local gold shop with a hammer on the weekend.
The crime occurred at the Kim Thanh Di An gold store, situated on DT743A Street in Tan Dong Hiep Ward, Di An Town, Binh Duong Province, at around 8:30 pm on Sunday.
The suspect arrived at the venue on his motorbike, pretending to be a customer.
He began browsing the store before pulling out a hammer and smashing the glass of the cabinet.
The criminal then stole a large amount of gold jewelry and escaped on his motorcycle.
The incident occurred very quickly, with the female shopkeeper not knowing how to react.
She was the only person at the gold shop at that time and managed to scream for help, but with no success.
After being notified, police officers arrived at the gold shop to begin their investigation.

Questioning was still ongoing as of 10:00 pm the same day.
Officers have gathered statements from the witness and extracted footage from security cameras to assist in finding the robber.
They have yet to reveal the exact amount and value of the stolen products.
In early 2016, a similar robbery happened at the Huynh Hoa 5 gold shop in Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Province.
Pretending to be buyers, two men wearing gauze masks entered the store, breaking open the glass cabinets with their hammers and stealing the products.
They then ran toward two other accomplices, who were waiting on two motorbikes, and escaped with the gold.
