Temperatures in northern Vietnam are expected to drop to below 15 degrees Celsius in some places, under the influence of a cold front this week, while it will remain blistering hot in the southern region.
The cold spell is forecast to hit northern localities on Tuesday before extending its effect to the central region, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
The mercury will drop by eight to nine degrees Celsius, ending the hot weather pattern in the region.
The lowest temperature will be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius in the Red River Delta localities, including Hanoi, and around 17 to 19 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.
It may also fall to between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius at higher altitudes, such as Mau Son Mount in Lang Son Province and Sa Pa Town in Lao Cai Province.
It will rain during the period, and residents in mountainous localities are advised to prepare for potential gusts, hails, and thunderstorms.
Temperatures normally hover around 30 degrees Celsius in tropical Vietnam.
Sweltering weather conditions are forecast to persist in southern locales, including Ho Chi Minh City, with temperatures reaching up to 35 to 36 degrees Celsius, the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting reported.
This weather pattern is forecast to continue in the last ten days of this month.
Similarly, the average high in the Central Highlands will be between 32 and 35 degrees Celsius.
