Police in Ho Chi Minh City have arrested and searched the houses of members of a pickpocket ring that previously targeted bus-goers in Thu Duc District.
Officers in Thu Duc on Saturday apprehended Quach Chinh Nhan, 47, who resides in Hoc Mon District, for robbery.
The arrest had been approved by the district’s People’s Procuracy.
Nhan, a.k.a. Nhan 'superman,' is the leader of a pickpocket gang at a bus stop in Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc District that was filmed by undercover Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters earlier this week.
The evidence was previously submitted to the city’s public transport management center.
The agency then coordinated with police officers to deal with the case.

Aside from Nhan, officers also nabbed Duong Thi Sen, 54, Bui Van Vinh, 43, Do Thi Hanh, 77, and Tran Van Diep, 36.
Preliminary information showed that Nhan, Vinh, and Sen were in charge of stealing from bus-goers, while Hanh kept watch in the area.
Meanwhile, Diep was the one who bought the stolen objects from the gang.
Police also searched the homes of Nhan, Sen, and Vinh in Hoc Mon District and the southern province of Dong Nai on Saturday night and early Sunday morning to assist the investigation.
