-- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Sunday attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the ‘Eco Delta’ smart city in Gangseo, Busan, South Korea as part of the activities within the framework of ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit.

-- A Vietnamese delegation led by Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, concluded a three-day working visit to Cambodia on Sunday.

-- Measures to boost security – defense cooperation between Vietnam and the European Union were discussed at their first-ever security – defense dialogue held in Brussels, Belgium last week.

-- The southern province of Binh Duong on Sunday put into use a centralized contact center which will be manned 24/7 to handle citizens’ reports from different channels, including a phone hotline, text messages, emails, and chat apps such as Zalo, Viber, and Facebook.

-- Nguyen Thi Hong Thao, the headmistress of a high school in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, has been found to have spread ‘sensitive’ personal photos of her deputy after stumbling upon the photos on a cloud storage service while accessing a school computer.

Business

-- The south-central province of Binh Thuan, Vietnam’s largest dragon fruit producer, is expanding cultivation of dragon fruit under Vietnamese and global Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP and GlobalGAP) standards, which help farmers save on fertilizer and pesticide costs, and promote sustainable production.

-- Vietnam imported 4.64 million metric tons of steel worth US$2.95 billion from China in the first ten months of 2019 as the northern neighbor made up roughly 38 percent of the country’s total steel imports during the period.

-- The State Bank of Vietnam has announced a plan to lower the foreign ownership rate limit in payment intermediary services to 49 percent, instead of leaving it unrestricted as per current regulations, to avoid manipulation by foreign investors in the field.

-- The under-22 men’s football teams of Vietnam and Brunei will face each other in their opener at the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at Binan Stadium in Laguna, 50 kilometers south of Manila, at 3:00 pm on Monday (Vietnam time).
