A man succumbed to a stab wound after trying to deescalate a dispute between a friend and her lover in the northern Vietnamese province of Quang Ninh last week.
Police in Quang Ninh’s Ha Long City confirmed on Wednesday evening that the incident happened at around 10:00 am on Sunday at a rented room in Yet Kieu Ward.
The tenant, 27-year-old Trinh Thi Thu Ha, was having a quarrel with her boyfriend, 25-year-old P.G.B., at the time.
As the tension grew, V.V.D., 24, an acquaintance of Ha, and another person who was present in the room at that time tried to act as peacemakers.
During the process, Ha took a 23-centimeter long knife from her kitchen.

When D. walked behind Ha and tried to grab hold of her, she suddenly turned around and stabbed him in his left flank.
D. was then admitted to the Quang Ninh General Hospital, where doctors found that the knife had caused a rupture in the left renal vein, acute bleeding along with some other internal damage.
The man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police in Ha Long City came to Ha’s rented room to investigate the case right afterward.
The investigation is still underway.
