Scaffolding collapsed from the second floor of a construction project in the northern Vietnamese province of Thai Binh on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the fatalities of three workers.
According to a source close to Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper, the accident happened at around 6:35 pm when three workers on a four-member construction team were plastering walls on the second floor.
The sudden scaffolding collapse from a height of 5.5 meters sent workers to the concrete floor, killing two people on the spot and seriously injuring another, who was later reported dead at Thai Binh Provincial General Hospital that same day.
The three victims were identified as Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Dinh Thang and Pham Van Do, aged from 53 to 56, who all hailed from Viet Hung Commune.
District police said they were coordinating with provincial authorities to clarify the reason of the fatal labor accident at the construction site, which is owned by Vu Van Truong.
Truong and one of the workers on the team were reportedly in charge of building the scaffolding used in the project.
