An eighth-grade student has been hospitalized after being attacked by a group of teenage boys in front of his school in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai.

The victim is N.T.H., an eighth-grade student of Vo Truong Toan Middle School in Tan Bien Ward, Bien Hoa City, director of the local bureau of education and training Vo Van Minh confirmed on Wednesday.

Preliminary information showed that the incident happened after classes on March 5.

H. had just exited the school when he was approached by a group of three unidentified teenagers.

Following a short conversation, the three started punching and kicking H. until he collapsed on the ground.

Many other students were also present at the scene but no one dared to interfere.

H. was later brought to the hospital by his teachers.

The violence was caught on CCTV, and the footage has sparked outrage among viewers after being uploaded to social media.

Doctors stated H. suffered multiple soft-tissue wounds and the boy was discharged from the hospital following his two-day treatment.

Although the bullies have not been identified, the Bien Hoa education bureau confirmed that they were not students of Vo Truong Toan Middle School.

It has asked local police to hunt for and impose suitable punishments upon the assailants, as well as to ensure safety for all students of the school.

Officers in Tan Hoa Ward said on Wednesday they were working with the school board and H.’s doctors, and collecting information from eyewitnesses.
