The Ho Chi Minh City administration has requested relevant authorities to provide favorable conditions for passengers with international flight tickets so they can make a smooth trip to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Police units in all districts and Thu Duc City were tasked with directing officers at COVID-19 checkpoints at the city’s gateways to facilitate the airport trips of residents in the city as well as from other provinces.
Drivers should also be allowed to return to their place of departure after taking the passengers to Tan Son Nhat Airport in the southern metropolis, provided they have met the criteria promulgated by the Ministry of Transport.
The municipal Department of Information and Communications is in charge of publicizing the specific rules that passengers and their drivers must follow when they travel to the city’s airport.
According to the transport ministry, many people currently need to go to international airports in the country in order to travel to other nations for work and study.
As provinces and cities implement extensive social distancing measures due to COVID-19, such people have found the way to airports a challenging journey.
Many localities require all arrivals from virus-hit areas to quarantine for 14 days, thus taxi drivers have shunned transporting travelers to airports that are located in pathogen-struck locales, including Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ministry of Transport recently asked the administrations in all provinces and cities to provide favorable conditions for people with international flight tickets and their drivers, as long as they comply with several rules.
During their journey to the airport, travelers must present their valid passports and visas, air tickets (in paper or electronic formats) with codes, flight times and dates, and flight numbers, and a negative COVID-19 test result via the real-time RT-PCR method.
They must also file health declarations and follow basic pandemic prevention and control regulations, namely wearing face masks and keeping a safe distance.
Air travelers must not share their ride with other passengers, except in cases where two people or more in a family are scheduled to travel abroad on the same flight.
After taking travelers to the airport, drivers must return to their place of departure without making any stop or picking up new passengers.
