Health ministry announces 194,815 more coronavirus cases in Vietnam

The Ministry of Health logged 194,815 coronavirus infections across Vietnam on Tuesday, in addition to 70,902 recoveries and 86 virus-related deaths.

The newest cases, including 20 imported and 194,795 domestic transmissions, were found in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said.

Bac Ninh Province reported 43,111 of the latest local cases, including 32,380 infections added from previous days; Hanoi 32,650; Nghe An Province 15,292; Phu Tho Province 4,882; Son La Province 4,368; Hai Phong City 3,871; Hai Duong Province 3,676; Ca Mau Province 3,428; Binh Duong Province 3,131; Quang Ninh Province 2,906; Khanh Hoa Province 2,359; Da Nang 1,905; Ho Chi Minh City 1,500; Lam Dong Province 1,315; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 1,062; Quang Nam Province 327; and Can Tho City 180.

Vietnam had documented 147,335 locally-transmitted infections on Monday.

The country has confirmed 4,769,355 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 2.78 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City sits atop the case count with 554,540 patients, followed by Hanoi with 460,203, Binh Duong Province with 318,635, Bac Ninh Province 194,521, Nghe An Province 115,873, Hai Duong Province 105,355, Dong Nai Province with 102,639, Tay Ninh Province with 95,887, Hai Phong City 85,524, Ca Mau Province 77,618, Binh Phuoc Province 72,669, Da Nang with 70,365, and Can Tho City with 46,195.

Vietnam detected only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry recorded 70,902 recovered patients on Tuesday, lifting the national count to 2,789,342.

The toll has risen to 40,977, with 86 pathogen-linked mortalities added today. 

Vietnam has registered 4,776,873 patients in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have administered more than 198 million vaccine doses, including 314,067 shots on Monday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Upwards of 181 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,865,996 first shots, 67,698,132 second doses, 14,285,241 additional primary jabs, and 26,870,428 boosters.    

A total of 17.035.121 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,744,389 first doses and 8,290,732 second jabs.
