The death toll from a fire that broke out at a karaoke parlor in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam on Tuesday night has risen to 33.
As of 9:00 pm on Wednesday, local authorities in Binh Duong confirmed that 33 people had been killed in the incident.
Among the deceased people, 32 died inside the karaoke venue while the 33rd victim succumbed to serious injuries at the hospital after having jumped from a high floor.
Rescuers said many victims had tried to hide from the flames inside restrooms.
The deceased victims include both customers and employees of the karaoke parlor.

Authorities said they had to tear through the walls in order to look for the victims.
Firefighting units in Ho Chi Minh City were also mobilized to assist in the rescue efforts.
The search was ceased on Wednesday night.
A preliminary report by the Binh Duong Department of Public Security shows that the fire broke out at An Phu karaoke parlor in An Phu Ward, Thuan An City at 8:30 pm on Tuesday.

The venue has 30 singing rooms, and the blaze started on the second floor before spreading to the entire building.
After being notified, nearly 70 officers and over 10 specialized vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
Twenty-two people were rescued from the flames, while several others managed to escape on their own but were seriously injured in the process.

An Phu General Hospital confirmed it had received about 40 injured victims.
As of Wednesday morning, 10 people were still being treated at the infirmary, and another individual had been transferred to a high-level hospital due to a serious brain injury.
The Binh Duong People’s Committee was scheduled to organize a press conference regarding the incident on Thursday.
