A taxi driver got sacked after a video capturing him constantly cursing at passengers, kicking them out of the cab, and throwing their baggage on a street in Da Lat, the touristic capital city of Lam Dong Province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, went viral on social media.
The Hoa Binh Transport Cooperative announced the dismissal of driver Pham Van Cong on Saturday morning, according to Lao Dong (Labor) newspaper.
In a six-minute video sent to the People’s Committee of Da Lat, Cong cursed with obscenities at two female passengers from Ho Chi Minh City while carrying them on a car numbered 49A334.36.
The driver then pulled over and angrily asked the two passengers to get out of the car and threw the tourists’ belongings out to the street, with a piece of baggage unfortunately hitting one of the two in the head.
The reason of his rude behaviors has not been officially announced yet. It is likely that a dispute over transport fares occurred between them as per the footage obtained and watched by Tuoi Tre News.
Le Anh Kiet, head of the Department of Culture and Information of Da Lat City, said that he contacted the female tourists in question and apologized them on behalf of the city authorities after the incident.
He condemned Cong’s acts as serious violations of the tourism code of conduct.
The official pledged to handle the case thoroughly.
