-- HMS Spey, the British Royal Navy’s offshore patrol vessel, was anchored at Ho Chi Minh City’s port on Tuesday, beginning a five-day friendship visit to the city on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK.

-- “A South Korean court ordered the government on Tuesday to compensate a Vietnamese victim of atrocities during the Vietnam War in the 1970s, when about 300,000 South Korean troops fought alongside U.S. forces,” Reuters reported.

Society

-- The weather is expected to remain hot and sunny in southern Vietnam on Wednesday, while northern provinces will still have light rain, drizzle, fog, and high humidity, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

-- Police in Tien Giang Province, southern Vietnam said on Tuesday they have issued an urgent arrest warrant against a 40-year-old tractor-trailer driver for not helping people who were in a life-threatening situation following a traffic accident.

-- At least eight flights were canceled and 28 others had to make a detour due to foggy weather at Tho Xuan Airport in north-central Thanh Hoa Province on Tuesday.

-- A 26-month-old boy from Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap suffered from severe intestinal obstruction and required a small bowel resection after swallowing a ring of 14 rusted magnet marbles, the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital said on Tuesday.

-- Vietnam’s state-run lottery company Vietlott announced on Tuesday the winner of the Mega 6/45 jackpot, which is worth over US$3.9 million and has a probability of one in 8.1 million.

-- Vietnam Airlines plans to resume five more routes between Vietnam and China from March and April this year, thereby restoring a total of nine out of ten routes to China compared to the pre-pandemic period.
